On the Internet I heard some people using this technique for sparing. By taking their ring finger out of the hole. Apparently, it kills hook and is a way to throw straight with a reactive ball (besides end-over-end roll). Do any of you pros use/recommend this style? What are its advantages and disadvantages? Thanks.
From Wikipedia:
To cut down the hook for spares, some bowlers eliminate the ring finger, and grip the ball with just the middle finger and thumb, causing the release to have less lift; professional bowlers Gary Dickinson and Walter Ray Williams, Jr. perfected this technique.
Seriously??? I never knew WRW Jr used this since its almost impossible to see his hand.. HAHA.
