Every country has its pros and cons. Singapore, being a very small dot on the map has to strive and struggle many times harder to keep itself afloat in the competitive economic market in order to survive. As much as many people complain of the suffocating government ruling in Singapore, one should stand back and review that if the government are not smart enough, how could tihs small dot on the map ends up a first world country? To that, I credit the government of Singapore.
On a personal note, I dislike the educational system in Singapore. There is no freedom in expression oneself. Well, to be fair, i would not say 'NO', but it is very restrictive. Kids in Singapore are often "told what to do" and they grow up as obedient citizens. Remember seeing any strike or boycotting in Singapore?
Look at the big failure of the Speaker's Corner. Total Flop. Reason? This is - Singapore! People are not used to speaking up their thoughts. They wait for the government, the authorities to tell them what to do. Not that I am a rebellious person, I am just one who deem freedom of speech as priceless experience for interaction between cultures, government and people.
