Waterfall Aviary at Jurong Bird Park, home to the world’s first man-made waterfall, reopened its doors on Thursday (Jan 23) after six and a half months of refurbishment.
Home to more than 600 birds from over 50 species, the 43-year-old aviary added four new species of birds to its exhibit yesterday: Sun conure, Common crowned pigeon, Pied imperial pigeon and Von der Decken’s hornbill.
Together with the relaunch, a viewing terrace – replacing the now-defunct panorail station inside the aviary – is now open to public. Additionally, the refurbished terrace will also serve as an event venue for corporate guests from now.
To attract more local visitors, the Bird Park will be working with People’s Association to introduce various package deals.
The Jurong Bird Park is open from 8.30am to 6pm daily.
Starlings fly freely in the Waterfall Aviary. The makeover, which took six months to complete, costs S$250,000.
A new addition to the Waterfall Aviary – the endangered Sun Conure.
Jurong Bird Park is a place for the entire family. Attractive package deals will be jointly rolled out by the Bird Park and People’s Association.
Since the launch of the Waterfall Aviary in 1971, the iconic structure, which stands at 30 metres, still holds the world record of being the tallest man-made waterfall in an aviary.
Visitors can get close to the birds during the feeding sessions, at 10am and 2.30pm daily.
