A mobile phone has saved the life of an American man when it blocked a bullet fired by a robber, who was holding up a petrol station in Florida.
Police said that the man, who was working in the petrol station, sustained only minor injuries after a robber fired a bullet at his abdomen because his mobile phone stopped it.
The close call happened in Winter Garden, a suburb of Orlando, Florida.
New CCTV footage released shows the robber entering the petrol station and taking money out of the till.
The robber then produced a revolver and demanded the employees open the safe.
When the clerk couldn't open the safe, the robber ordered a second clerk to try. He was also unsuccessful.
The footage shows the robber firing a round directly at the man who doubles over from the impact.
The employee staggers to the other side of the till and lifts his shirt, at which point he realises that the bullet has not entered his body.
Police say the man had no idea the bullet had hit his mobile phone until he pulled it out of his shirt pocket.
