A sushi chef who goes by the name “Tama-chan” has taken his food to another level by creating sushi rolls that have a picture running through them. Tama-chan layers his colourful ingredients into the sushi before he rolls it up, visualising how the finished rolls might look in cross-section once they are cut (rather like a stick of Brighton rock).
Famous paintings such as Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Vermeer’s Girl With A Pearl Earring as well as more mundane subjects like boxes of noodles and domestic cats have all had the sushi treatment. The chef has now set up classes in Tokyo's Omotesando neighbourhood to share his amazing skills with others keen to learn them.
