TALENTED Boston student Jody Steel started doodling on people's thighs because she was bored, now her art has become an international success.
A BORED student has taken to doodling these incredible works of art - on her THIGH.
Jody Steel, 19, created many of the masterpieces - which include Breaking Bad's Walter White and Joseph Gordon-Levitt - during classes at Emerson College in Boston.
Each one takes her between 45 minutes and one hour to create using Sharpie and Biro pens.
Jody, originally from Hollywood, FL, said: "People are fascinated by the drawings. I think it has something to do with the speed.
"I also think that’s why my professors have been okay with it. I maintain straight As and participate regularly in class and can have engaging conversations while I draw. It’s like second nature to me.
"I began drawing on my legs during my classes and lectures. I've also drawn on notebook paper, but I found that drawing on my legs was both quicker and more efficient—not to mention my legs are just as pale as paper."
The talented artist says her drawings have since caught the imagination of people around the world - and have even led to job offers.
She added: "It’s been totally unexpected. I’ve been getting commissions and fan mail from people all over the world.
"I do get funny looks sometimes. Most people ask why I got the 'tattoo' upside down, but when I explain that it’s a drawing, people are normally very excited and want to hear more about it. I’ve had people in the subway see them and ask for a business card.
"It’s an amazing feeling to have hundreds of people say hello from France, Greece, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, among so many other places. That’s definitely my favourite part."
But her artwork does come at a cost - hundreds of pens that she goes through creating the doodles.
Jody, who says her favourites are Walter White and the Elephant, said: "I really wish Pilot Pens or Sharpie would sponsor me. I’m probably their best customer. I’ve gone through more pens than I can count.
"The drawings are surprisingly easy to wash off. It takes a good 10 minutes of scrubbing in the shower and I choose to wash them off pretty quickly.
"I don’t want to stain my clothes, sheets, or anything that I place on my lap. I had an imprint of the Elephant on the bottom of my laptop for awhile there."
