We all like to keep track of the countries we have visited, but one man has taken drastic action to track his globetrotting.
William Passman has had a map of the world tattooed on his back and colours in each new country he has visited.
The 59-year-old from Louisiana in the US has only owned a passport since 2006 but has used the past seven years to visit more than 70 countries.
To keep up to date with his travels he gets the countries he has visited inked in with a different colour upon his return - making his back a living map.
And the unusual souvenir has attracted its fair share of attention from fellow travellers.
"The overall reaction to my tattoo has been great, with many backpackers saying that they had always thought of doing something like that," said Mr Passman
Since applying for his passport he has explored a lot of South America, Europe and southern Africa as well as Russia and Australia.
The retired financial planner said he had always wanted to travel but had never quite got around to it.
"I woke up one morning and wondered what happened to my plans for travel when I was much younger," he explained.
So far his favourite travel memory is visiting Iguazu Falls on the Argentine-Brazil border when he suddenly realised he was the centre of attention after taking off his wet T-shirt.
"When I turned around all the cameras were pointed at my back instead of the fall, it was an amazing feeling," he said.
So where's the next guy that tattoo the name of all his girlfriends past or present???
What about what you had for dinner since you were born?
