Some people use guard dogs. But Awirut Nathip, who lives in Thailand has two crocodiles guarding his home. One named Thong, who was originally bought as a pet 15 years ago, stays in the yard and sometimes sleeps on the front porch, while the other one named Nguen stays in a ditch under the house. Nguen is more aggressive, according to Nathip.
Not surprisingly, there has not been a single burglary since the crocs have lived there. Neighbors say they are not afraid of the crocs and welcome the unusual security measures, which seem to have contributed to a peaceful neighborhood over the years.
Prajit Charoensakkhajon told Sky News: “I’m not frightened of him. I’d rather feel secure because he’ll watch our homes.”
"Thieves wouldn't dare to come round because they think the crocodile is fierce, right?"
Awirut Nathip sprays water on his crocodile named Thong which means golf in Thai, in front of his house in Pitsanuklok province, north of Bangkok, Thailand. He uses it –and one other crocodile – as guard dogs after originally buying them as pets for his children, 15 years ago
