Born on August 28, 1991 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Andrej Pejić is now a citizen of Australia. He and his family immigrated to Australia in 2000.
Pejic was reportedly discovered by a modeling scout right before he turned 17. The modeling scout had gone to McDonald's, where Pejic had been working part-time.

In May 2011, Pejic's posed for the cover of the New York-based magazine Dossier Journal. He was shown wearing curlers and taking off a white shirt. Some U.S. bookstore chains had the magazine covered because they were afraid that the customers would think Pejic was a topless woman.
