But the misery of a hard yolk is about to become a thing of the past thanks to a nifty new gadget.
Russian inventors have come up with the an egg which cooks itself to perfection while still in the carton.
The Gogol Mogol is a single cardboard egg box with chemical layers that produce heat when activated.
After pulling a tag the packages starts to warm up cooking the egg for up to three minutes.
It avoids the need to boil a pan of water and allows busy people to work on an egg at their desk or on the move.
The carton has four layers and contains calcium hydroxide, water and other chemicals which react to produce heat when the carton is activated.nventors KIAN said the egg is cooked after two minute although users can leave it in for up to three depending on how firm they like the yolk.
A spokesman said: “The product is just a usual egg in an unusual package, possessing unique product properties.
“The time for preparing eggs should be a couple of minutes and after cooking eggs the package should be thrown away, it’s impossible to use it more than one time.”

I'm just wondering - doesn't it take a lot of energy to cook an egg?
And I'm curious as to what are the chemicals that are used to react with the calcium hydroxide.
As far as I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong), it is the reaction of calcium oxide with water is highly exothermic. Calcium hydroxide shouldn't really have a very exothermic reaction since that is the product of CaO + water.

If life really needs to be rushed, might as well put a small nuclear reaction next to the egg, cook it fast fast.
And then die also fast fast.

Maybe the egg comes hard boiled.
The tag when pulled, just heats up the hard boiled egg to give you the impression it was cooked there and then.
