A HORRIFIED cereal fan thought he was going batty when he poured out a bowl of cornflakes, only to be greeted by a mummified bat in his bowl.
Experts believe the ill-fated bat had flown into the packaging by mistake and suffocated to death.
Scientists have been unable to establish whether the bat had flown into the box of cereal at the factory in Stuttgart, Germany, or after they had been opened.
But they do believe the bat had been there for a while.
Food safety official Jorg Sturmer said: "I have never seen anything like it.
"This really is an unusual case," he added, speaking to the local source
