Kazakh man orders 1 million roses for apology

  Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 - A Kazakh man placed an order for one million red roses in an effort to win his wife's forgiveness after a quarrel.

  The man, who lives in central Kazakh city Kyzylorda, ordered the flowers to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8, the Express-K news agency reported on Wednesday.

  The order came with a prepayment, although the source of the quarrel is unknown.

  The owner of the shop said she had never seen such a large order, and provided a very good discount for the customer.

  It is unclear how much the man will pay for the delivery, although with roses costing as much as $13 each, the price tag may amount to $13 million.

  “For the sake of such a serious order, we will bring these roses from Holland,” said the shopkeeper. “Our city has never seen such an order.”

  The inspiration for the large-scale order comes from a Soviet-period love song called “Million Roses,” the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
