Woman holds three crawling men on chain leashes to promote feminism, frowned upon by netizens
Three men enslaved by a woman docilely submitted to their master’s abuse. This was a performance put on by four young Chinese artists on the streets of Wuhan trying to promote feminism. However, it was terribly received by residents of Wuhan, as many passers-by “found the claptrap obnoxious.”
On February 8, four men went on all fours when their chain leashes are held in the hands of a woman walking behind them.
Kang Yi (man in the middle), 25, majored in oil painting in college. In 2005, he started to work as a comtemporary artist. He has practiced performance art of many subject matters in recent years, including kowtowing to sanitation workers and slapping facial paralysis patients in the face. This was the first visit of him and his team to Wuhai.
Kang Yi explained that women, as a disadvantaged social group, easily fall victim to domestic violence and sex discrimilation. Their performance is a bold defiance of male chauvinism and a call on the society for respecting and guaranteeing women’s legal rights. When asked if he feels the form is too extreme, Kang Yi said, “All forms of art are exaggerated. Only then can they attract attention. ” The picture shows Kang Yi licking the shoe of his female “master”.
Kang Yi’s performance drew a large crowd. Many older spectators said they “didn’t quite get it.” One grandfather did not even bother to conceal his contempt and aversion, “A claptrap. Too obnoxious.”

None of the mentioned, their main objective was to drive the message of sexual discrimilation. They're performance artists, so most likely they got paid. What's on their mind? "Sucks! treat me like a dog."
