SINGAPORE: A search and rescue operation has been launched after a lorry rolled off a barge into the seas off Pasir Panjang Terminal on Saturday.
At about 2.45pm, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) received a distress call about the incident.
The driver, a 37-year-old Singaporean, was reported to be in the lorry when it rolled into the sea.
The
lorry was being transported by the barge from Pulau Sebarok to Sungai
Pandan when the incident happened. The barge was being towed by a
tugboat.
The MPA is coordinating the search and rescue operation, involving three MPA craft and two Police Coast Guard craft.
The
Naval Diving Unit from the Singapore Armed Forces and the Hydrographic
Department of MPA are trying to locate the sunken lorry and the missing
man.
