I just read this news, I always thought Brazilians like soccer so much that World Cup coming to Brazil is like fish coming to water (ru yu de shui)?
Not exactly! Only about 48% of brazilians actually support the fia worldcup! They think the millions dollar stadium is useless and that they'd rather the money be spent on hospitals and schools. So I guess the media only shows the supportive side of Brazilians :)

Looks like fool's ball is more important than healthcare and education for the 48%...
The 48% is not call supportive....We singaporeans call, "buay hiao siorh" - don't know how to think!

That's why I don't read and buy local news.
I read news on the internet.
I believe the World Cup in Brazil had the same issues the Olympics in Russia had. Building the venues were very expensive. Poor Brazilians (of which there are many) saw money being lavished on preparing for the World Cup while they still lacked basic resources.
I believe there was also quite a bit of corruption in the awarding and execution of the building contracts.
The Brazilian government wanted the World Cup as an international showcase. Basically, they figured the prestige of hosting the World Cup was worth the cost. The citizenry is not so certain.
They like world cup or not ...... sure they love soccer
They started very early training for soccer ...... 2 , 3 year old.

Totally agreed! Much propaganda and media censoring on local news! Sucks to the core!!
