Police issued a crime advisory on Tuesday about a phone scam purporting to involve a competition run by Changi Airport.
Members of the public have received calls informing them that they had won return air tickets to Japan in a contest organised by the airport last year.
The caller would ask victims for their personal information such as passport details and mailing address, on the pretext that it was necessary in order to claim their prize. But after providing the information there was no further correspondence.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) has clarified that such calls are not authentic. In official CAG competitions, winners are notified by telephone and email, followed by an official letter.
Scary.
