Myanmar maid charged with murder of 85-year-old woman in Bukit Timah condo

A 24-year-old maid from Myanmar was charged with the murder of an 85-year-old woman this afternoon (Mar 5), after the victim was found dead in her Springdale Condominium unit.
Madam Yong Wan Lan was found lying motionless on the floor in her eighth-floor unit along Hindhede Walk in Bukit Timah yesterday afternoon (Mar 4).
She had wounds on her upper body and was pronounced dead by paramedics at 6.27pm, reports The Straits Times.
Than Than Win, who showed up at the Subordinate Courts in a yellow t-shirt, appeared dazed and sombre as the charge was read out.
She will be remanded at Changi Women's Prison for a psychiatric evaluation. She is expected to appear in court again on March 26.

An 85-year-old elderly woman was found dead in her unit at Springdale Condominium in Bukit Timah yesterday evening, Mar 4, in a case which police have classified as murder.
According to The Straits Times, the police were alerted to the case at 5:23p.m., and the Singaporean woman was pronounced dead by paramedics at 6:27p.m.
She lived with other family members, but they were not at home when the incident happened.
She was discovered by the condominium security guard, lying motionless on the floor in the room with blood and wounds on her upper body.
A 24-year-old woman, believed to be a maid from Myanmar who has worked for the family for about a year, has been arrested in relation to the case.
The police have classified the case as murder and investigations are still ongoing.
