When a woman alighted a train at Minamiurawa Station and fell through the platform gap yesterday morning (Jul 22), 40 commuters and staff members pushed the train to make a gap big enough to free her.
The incident took place in Saitama Prefecture at around 9.15am, when a woman in her 30s fell through the gap between the platform and train carriage, reports Japan Crush and Rocketnews24.
According to JR East Japan, the gap between the carriage and the platform is normally about 20cm wide.
She got stuck at her hip and attracted the notice of staff members, one of whom shouted, 'Someone is trapped!'
Commuters then got off the train voluntarily, and helped the crew to push the train so as to make a bigger gap to free the woman.
She was rescued within minutes and sent to hospital with no visible injuries.
What also won the admiration of netizens after news of the incident broke was that there was only an eight-minute delay to the Keihin Tohoku Line.
we will stomp and complain to friends the train was delayed.
this one we really lose to them
In Singapore, most ppl will take out their phone and take picture, stomp, tweet, post in fb, forums etc...
Some will call the station staff...
but few will go forward to help...
