A woman from China was jailed for six months on Thursday for entering into a marriage of convenience with a Singapore citizen.
Shen Huimin, 39, had admitted to marrying Darren Lee Kay Choong, 43, at a cafe at the Registry of Marriages in return for giving Lee $3,000 through her sister, Shen Jun also known as Ah Moon on Feb 28.
The court heard that Shen's elder sister arranged for her to enter into the sham marriage with Lee to get a visit pass. Shen agreed and gave $3,000 to her sister to pass it on to Lee.
On Feb 28, the couple went to the ROM to complete the formalities of the marriage before they proceeded to Inspired by Luv Cafe for the solemnisation.
