Former deputy public prosecutor Spencer Gwee Hak Theng, charged with having paid sex with a minor, took the stand on Tuesday morning.
This after District Judge Toh Yung Cheong said that the prosecution had proven that Gwee had a prima facie case to answer to.
The 60-year-old is accused of paying an underaged Vietnamese prostitute $300 for sex in July 2011 at Four Chain View hotel in Geylang.
His lawyer, Subhas Anandan, had earlier submitted to the court that Gwee had no case to answer, as the state had failed to prove that the girl was below 18 at the time she met Gwee. This was because the police officer who cracked the vice syndicate she was working for failed to seize her IC - which she then claimed she lost - and the court had to rely on whatever she said her age was.

I'm just wondering whether all these underaged "high class prostitutes" are they foreign students on student passes or are they on Performance Artiste work permit holders (whom are also able to work quietly as Prostitutes) working in nightclubs and bars in Singapore?

our immigration policies are too laxed. also whether MOM has enforced all emplloyee lists of employers and companies to besubmitted to them for review.

I believe that if they are foriegners, there are high chances of them be trafficked/smuggled in. Remember, the under-age girl is not self-employed but rather have a middleman.

here is singapore. if they were smuggled in, the girl can call '999' immediately in any hotel or motel room, or inform the hotel motel staff, or call vietnam ambassy in singapore. unless she is not smuggled in but willingly like cum here toearn as a prostitute so bobian lor. -

No, MOM will not do that and they will go and check on that company when there is a complain about it. Most of the foreigners passport from third world country like Bangladesh, Vietnam etcs, their passports are genuine and official documents issued from their government but the information in the passports are false. This got to do with ICA too to check on them before letting them enter Singapore. -

Yes. The legal working age in Singapore is 16 years old, for Singaporeans and Foreigners, except for foreign domestic maids, they must be above 24 years old. -
