SINGAPORE: The Casino Regulatory Authority of
Singapore (CRA) has renewed the casino licence of Marina Bay Sands for
another 3 years, with effect from 26 April 2013.
CRA said in
assessing the renewal of MBS' licence, it had taken into consideration
MBS' compliance record as one of many factors.
For the new
licence period, CRA has imposed additional requirements on MBS to
institute, strengthen and maintain a rigorous compliance framework that
is in line with Singapore's laws and regulations.
In response to
media queries, Marina Bay Sands said it looks forward "to continuing to
contribute to Singapore's economy, to provide jobs for Singaporeans and
to conduct its business with integrity and in compliance with
Singapore's laws and regulations".
A spokesperson said the casino operator has in place comprehensive initiatives to ensure compliance with Singapore laws.
"These
initiatives are designed to strengthen our internal compliance
monitoring systems, and further enhance awareness of compliance
requirements within our organisation. For instance, we are implementing a
system of cyclical refresher training programmes and introducing
additional training programmes for our employees," the spokesperson
said.
"To ensure we have adequate expertise and resources to implement our compliance programme, we have expanded and will continue to expand and deepen our compliance team whenever necessary," added the spokesperson.
