Not one but two STOMPers have expressed unhappiness at being chased away from hawker centre tables in Bishan by people claiming to be reserving tables for an MP and volunteers.
STOMPers Tan and Ong both mentioned that the people who warded them off seemed to have 'booked' the tables for the duration of about two hours.
STOMPer Tan wrote:
"This happened at Block 511 Bishan.
"The time was between 9.30am to 11.20am.
"This picture was taken showing volunteers (in red) 'chasing' people away from the smoking zone just because they said that MP will be coming.
"And apparently they have booked the tables?
"Though I don't stay in the Bishan area, I find this rather ABSURD!
"Must they go to that extent?"
STOMPer Ong wrote:
"On the morning of 7 Apr, Sunday, at around 9.30am to 11.20am the food court at Block 511 Bishan was booked by an MP and volunteers.
"During these two hours residents are enjoying their breakfast and lunch, and it seem this is a long affair.
"Can't these people share with residents?"
Like that also must STOMP?
these people still not aware that if you are nobody, u are just a lesser mortal??
go be an MP if u wan enjoy these privilege...
aren't MPs supposed to sit together and mingle with residents?
Peons must give way to their Lords and Masters.
No surprise. They are kings and queens. Same thing happen in SGH leh. Security guards stop people from using the lift to let Ministers take the lift. Later they smart already, security guards don't need to stop people from taking, they place sign out of order ......
Damn, this is really too much and yet they claim they are our servants. In reality, it is the other way round.

pushing the blame to kpt owners............
The vice chairman of the Bishan East Citizens Consultative Committee (CCC) has explained that the 'reservation' of tables at a coffeeshop was made by the owner, who wanted to be a hospitable host to a group of grassroots leaders on a walkabout.
Roland Ang, Vice Chairman of the CCC, gave a statement to STOMP after two STOMPers had wrote in about them being chased away from these tables which were 'booked".
Mr Ang wrote:
"On April 7th, advisers and grassroots members visited the wet market and various coffeeshops in Bishan East.
"We started at 8.30am and ended at about 11.30am.
"The owner was informed that the visit would end at his coffeeshop.
"Unknown to us, the coffeeshop owner reserved tables.
"We thank the owner for being hospitable but reservation of tables was not necessary or asked for.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to other patrons."
