A new record price for a HDB resale flat was set last month for a property in Bishan.
An executive maisonette along Bishan Street 13 changed hands for S$1.01 million, beating the previous S$1 million paid for a similar unit in Mei Ling Street, Queenstown last September.
Data published by the HDB revealed that the new record holder is a 1,755 sq ft property in Block 194.
Romesh Navaratnarajah, Senior Editor for PropertyGuru, said: “The convenient location and easy access to transport links is one factor that attracts buyers to this neighbourhood.”
He added that resale flats in Bishan, unlike those in Queenstown where the previous record was set, are generally newer and are more aesthetically pleasing.
Prior to the introduction of the latest round of property cooling measures in January, many experts were predicting further record-breaking prices to be achieved for HDB resale flats in 2013. It remains to be seen whether those measures will dampen both the demand and prices for this sector. -

That buyer will get into big trouble with the bank....the economy not looking good for Singapore...the buyer will ended up being broke and bankrupt..wrong move to buy the HDB 5 rooms flat for that price....the buyer could have bought better and more spacious private property overseas.

I was told bartley ridge is considered cheap already, wait till they launch the one in Potong Pasir and even more terrible will be the Jurong East.
I wonder if all these so called cooling measure works at all, prices do not seem to drop at all.

I saw many Singaporeans fell down in the past from great height like spoil fruits...and recently early 2013 I met one young man in a coffeshop near woodlands checkpoint. He was a HR Manager and bought a condominium...then he was retrenched...now a bankrupt and no HDB flat. It also happened to two of my working colleagues in the past. One upgraded his HDB flat from a four rooms HDB flat to a five rooms HDB flat in 2003 or 2004, then recession came and he was retrenched. He lost his 5 rooms HDB flat. The other one same thing, upgraded his flat to from a four rooms HDB flat to a five rooms HDB flat, then the global monetary crisis came in 2008, he was retrenched, lost his five rooms HDB flat and a bankrupt now.
