Religious teacher molests child, gets 9 months jail

SINGAPORE: A 38-year-old religious teacher has been sentenced to nine months' jail for molesting a child in March 2007.
He was found guilty of one charge of committing an indecent act with a child.
The court heard that he had asked the child, who was nine years old at the time of the incident, to go his room to massage him around his stomach and waist.
After a while, he asked the child to massage his private parts.
The child was reluctant but he told her he would give her S$2 if she agreed.
After she had massaged him, he gave her the money and told her not to tell anyone about it.
The incident came to light when the victim told her school counsellor about it on 23 March 2011.
Shortly after, the police were informed.
The man and the child cannot be named to protect the identity of the child.
