  Sit-in on top of crane in Jurong by 2 China workers over work dispute

  SINGAPORE: Two workers from China are sitting on top of two cranes at a construction site in Jurong Port Road and are refusing to come down over what appears to be a work dispute.
  
  Police said they were alerted about this incident at about 6:35am on Thursday at 31 Jurong Port Road.
  
  A spokesman from the Singapore Civil Defence Force said each man is perched up on a crane, which is about 10 storeys high.
  
  Officials from the Ministry of Manpower are at the scene.

  The Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were called into action when two workers, believed to be from China, planted themselves on top of a crane in protest over owed wages earlier this morning (Dec 6).

  
  

  According to a report on The Straits times, both men were understood to return back to China soon but were still owed one month's salary.

  
  

  The duo have been sitting on top of the crane since 8am today.

  
  

  Police officers were seen cordoning off the area around the industrial site along Jurong Port Road while officers from the SCDF launched rescue operations.

  there are proper channels to root out employers in such cases.

   

  cheena people hould not take the rough way out that bring their own problems to the rest of the island.  gahmne also at fault to allow so many cheap cheena here. if the people affected now are sgreans, you think stirke will happen? mom would have been alerted already!

  Try reading the accounts of those who work at TWC2. They did go through official channels, as reported by TOC, but were stonewalled, led on a merry-go-round by various ministries and government bodies and told to join SBST.

  “A disproportionate amount of attention has focused on events from 26 November when preceding developments that precipitated the workers’ action are equally pertinent. A key concern should be how long the workers must wait to have their grievances addressed by management. This leads to another question of what the consequences are for employers who, through their action or inaction, have aggravated the situation. If ’zero tolerance’ is the prescribed policy for workers engaged in illegal strikes, what should the consequences be for their employers who fail to adequately address their concerns?

  There are claims that the workers should have taken their case through due processes available. Drawing on TWC2′s experience, there is a gap between what is offered on paper as due process and what actually happens. Given the disputes involved in this case, had the SMRT workers approached the MOM, they might have been told that their employers had not violated any Singapore law and therefore it is beyond the ken of the Ministry to assist.”

  take me a singaporean for example. if an employment agency bulshit in front of me with any job offers, if it looks suspecsion not worthly even for taking up ior follow up, i walk away and look for the next.

   

  the cheena come on tell me they are so naive? if they know how to have gay anal sex, they should besmarteveough to make judgements. ater all its not like they gonna work in their own country, its another country.

  For the bus drivers ' strike issue, just read from the newspaper that the SMRT new CEO had call in senior SAF to take up key appointment in the management. If this kind of strike spead to other area, maybe there is an chance of "copy-cat" companies hired SAF personel to fill in executive position for better control as in this case the construction.

  sorry. thos echeena people who killed and commit crimes. they know the consequences also. but we simply cannot allow them to go around the island doing sillier things than gay sex.

  evrerything can be turned around if we vote enough opposition to give the papapappy more presure. only when administry of policies are changed then we can work on the rest.
