SINGAPORE: Close to 100 youths gathered on Saturday for an intensive discussion about their future in Singapore.
Housing prices and the education system were among the key concerns for the 17 to 35-year-olds.
Some wanted to see a greater effort to bridge the divide between elite and non-elite schools.
On
housing, they wondered if they could afford one with the rising
property prices and to tackle this, they suggested lowering the minimum
age for owning a flat.
The discussions also sparked new ideas -
like setting up a Youth Parliament where a younger "MP" would learn from
an older minister during parliamentary sessions, to nurture the next
generation of Singapore's leaders.
Education minister Heng Swee
Keat said: "I found it interesting to hear the diversity of views on
topics from singles to having babies to foreign students to jobs, to
their definition of success.
"A key takeaway for many of them is
hearing for the first time a different viewpoint. You see that among the
students. That, wow how come there are some students that think like
this and how some of the other students think about it quite
differently.
"I give this example of the word "kiasu". The young
people interpreted it very differently. One group thought it meant
competitiveness, striving to do your best, and saw it as a good trait.
The other group used the word "kiasu" as a lack of graciousness and
sharing."

Okay, admit it, which young puppy elitest suggest this?
MP no need mentoring, it's not like some business post or professional post where u need mentoring to learn the trade.
If u really need a older person to tell u how to care for others, think of others, then u are most likely not suitable in the first place...
its brainwashing
