SINGAPORE: Journalist Chong Chee Kin, 39, was found dead at his Kim Keat Road home yesterday evening.
Family and friends who had gone to his home found the body of Mr Chong on his bed, and called the police.
Mr Chong began his
career with The Straits Times, and left last month to join TODAY, where
he was to take the post of News Editor in two weeks.
A 14-year
veteran in journalism, he won numerous awards during his career at The
Straits Times, including the Young Journalist of the Year award and
Story of the Year prize.
A recipient of the Singapore Press
Holdings Scholarship, Mr Chong joined The Straits Times in 1998,
beginning his career as a crime reporter.
He rose through the ranks to become the paper's Assistant News Editor.
His
most recent role at The Straits Times saw him oversee the online
integration of the newsroom, where he was responsible for breaking news
for the paper's website. He also played an active role in supervising
and training rookie reporters.
