SINGAPORE: A man who was in charge of a uniform group in a school in Singapore was jailed six years on Thursday for sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy.
The 53-year-old was found guilty of two counts of outrage of modesty and one count of underage sex.
One count of sexual exploitation of a child, and two counts of violating the Films Act were also taken into consideration.
The man visited the school weekly to conduct activities for the uniform group.
He became acquainted with his victim and would bring him out for meals outside the school.
During the March school holidays in 2010, the accused invited the boy to his home on the pretext of studying.
He asked the boy to take a shower before he joined in.
The man then used the opportunity to touch the boy's groin.
After the bath, they went to the bedroom where he masturbated and performed oral sex on the boy.
The
prosecution highlighted that the accused had abused his position of
trust and authority by "callously violating the victim to satiate his
sexual desires."
The court also heard that the boy did not consent to the acts but had "complied" as the man was his superior.
In
his sentencing, the district judge also noted that the boy suffered
emotional damage and currently suffers from trust issues.
