SDP chief offers $30k to annul bankruptcy

What a huge discount from half a million$ to $30K! Are the old men going "soft" as they see Hell at the end of their tunnel?
The Singapore Democratic Party chief yesterday said that former prime ministers Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong have indicated that they will accept his S$30,000 offer to annul his bankruptcy.
In an e-mail statement to the media, Dr Chee Soon Juan (above) said that he will be working to raise the amount to pay them "as quickly as possible" through the sale of his latest book, Democratically Speaking.
He also appealed for donations from supporters.
He wants to formally discharge himself from bankruptcy to contest the next general election in 2016, said the statement.
Dr Chee, the party's secretary-general, was declared a bankrupt in 2006 for failing to pay S$500,000 in damages to then senior minister Goh and then minister mentor Lee for defaming them during the 2001 General Election campaign.

chee beetr to it right this time. from what i see more opp is not good. the pap wnats more oppsition to cum in, so they can contest one anotehr, to filter and weaker the oppositions. i say we should not have too many opposiotns parties. keep to a few oinly and don;t mess in one area.. although we see some softness from the whites, we must not stop and feel weak in our hearts, drive it through all the way or else no more hope for sgreans! i hope chee also understand what true blue sgreans wants.

he has a Phd and used to work for NUS before he was fired in the 90s for abuse of claims.........

Lee Kuan Yew, Goh Chok Tong accept Chee Soon Juan's S$30,000 offer
SINGAPORE: Former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong have accepted opposition politician Chee Soon Juan's offer to pay S$30,000 to discharge himself from bankruptcy.
Senior Counsel Davinder Singh of Drew & Napier LLC said this in a statement on Friday.
Dr Chee, who is the Secretary-General of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), was declared a bankrupt in 2006 after he failed to pay damages totalling S$500,000 to Mr Lee and Mr Goh.
This followed a defamation suit brought on by the two over remarks Dr Chee made during the 2001 General Election.
Earlier, in a statement on September 11, Dr Chee said Mr Lee and Mr Goh had indicated that they would accept his offer of S$30,000 to annul his bankruptcy.
The SDP posted an email dated September 7 from the Official Assignee to Dr Chee on its website, saying that Dr Chee's creditors - Mr Lee, Mr Goh and the Attorney-General's Chambers - had no objection to his offer of composition of S$30,000.
Dr Chee said he will be working to raise the amount, primarily through the sale of his books.
He added that he was looking forward to being formally cleared of his bankruptcy so that he would be eligible to stand in the next General Election, due in 2016.
