SINGAPORE: More than 26,000 teachers and about 500 education support staff in several grades will receive a salary increase with effect from September 1, 2012.
The Education Ministry said the adjustments will ensure that the salaries of its EOs and AEDs keep pace with the market and commensurate with their roles and responsibilities.
The serving
Education Officers (EOs) in various General Education Officer (GEO) and
Senior Education Officer (SEO) grades will receive an eight per cent
salary adjustment.
GEOs can expect an increase of up to S$550 in their gross monthly salaries while the increase for SEOs is up to S$830.
The Allied Educators (AEDs) in various grades will receive salary adjustments ranging from five per cent to 15 per cent.
AEDs can look forward to an increase of up to S$700 in their monthly salaries.
Eligible officers will receive the salary adjustments from the September 2012 payroll onwards.

Or else who pay ?
Now they raise, you pay and no need any reason.
then they will say our sgrean teecher pay very high must hirer more foreign talent to cum in. those cheap one then tax their levy blah blah pay and lay good idea f-stp2 we pay.
You guys talk so much.
But you guys are clearly not teachers.
In fact, the pay increment might still not be enough to entice people to stop seeing NIE as some dumping ground, which is the sad reality today.
We are looking at the big picture.
I am not against the pay rise.
I know the reality of being a teacher is harsh and the turnover is high.
How the teachers are being treated is as illustrated in the recent case of student hair cut incident.
The respect for teacher as an authority is lost with the society with unreasonable parent and unsupportive principal.
No many stand forward to say the teacher is right in performing the hair cut.
It is not money all the time to attract people to become teacher. (That is how narrow minded the top gun are as they also greedy for money in how hard they fight for their pay and not for the people)
its so difficult to be undertsood
hey f-stop2 / 2f-stops

Ya lor. Why would people want to get into a profession where they will be fed to the sharks (parents and students) with both hands tied (lack of authority and support from principals)?
