A
27-year-old man was charged in court on Friday with brandishing a knife
at a policeman at Whampoa Neighbourhood Police Post (NPP) on Thursday
night.
Muhammad Rafid Mohamed Khali allegedly committed the
offence at the NPP at Block 29 Jalan Bahagia to the alarm of police
sergeant Jeremy Heng Chuan Khee at about 7.20pm.
He is also alleged to have kicked passer-by, Mr Teo Kok Eng twice on his right ribs.
Rafid was remanded for psychiatric examination.
He will return to court on Aug 10.
If convicted of criminal intimidation, he could be jailed for up to two years, fined or jailed and fined.
For voluntarily causing hurt, the maximum penalty is two years' jail and a $5,000 fine.
