SINGAPORE: Prosecution from the Manpower Ministry (MOM) will be proceeding with 30 of the 86 charges against Nightingale Nursing Home, Greenview Nursing Home and Civic Ambulance Services.
The three organisations are expected to make a decision on whether they will plead guilty to the charges or claim trial when the case gets mentioned at the pre-trial conference next month.
Earlier this year,
Nightingale Nursing Home was charged with 33 counts of illegal
deployment, false declaration and not furnishing MOM inspectors with
information relating to the case.
It was also charged under the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act for failing to provide optimal quality care.
This came after some of its staff members were seen mistreating a resident in a video, which was later televised.
Another 32 charges were filed against Nightingale's director, Tan Choo Woah.
Greenview
Nursing Home faces 11 charges relating to illegal deployment of
foreigners. It also faces one other charge of not furnishing MOM
inspectors with information.
Civic Ambulance Services is accused of falsely declaring salaries on nine counts between September 2007 and May 2009.
The Health Ministry is expected to proceed on the one charge against Nightingale.
It
was suspended last April from admitting new patients, after a video
showing its staff members mistreating a resident came to light.
