As of this morning, cached view of several sites, only a few still use "Singaporean"... the rest uses new citizen...
So.... ministerial or journalistic gaffe?

Editors were probably too eager to put the word 'integrate' somewhere in the headline.

If it's a journalistic gaffe, then ST owes the minister an apology.
Seriously.

Seriously.
ST is taking too long to wake up and realised how far its standards of English and journalism have slipped in the past decade
i really want to know because there were many tweets and forums showing "Singaporeans" instead of "New Citizens"
the context of the article seems to be that Iswaran was telling the locals to integrate!
Wa, you all damn sharp.

cna is very funny one.
They call themselves Channel News Asia but their forums will mysteriously be down for maintenance during the eve of the Sg elections.

To me, this
"We have got to make sure that we continue to keep that a very vibrant part of Singapore, where people ... feel free to practise ... their faith ... but being a part of a larger Singapore society and integrate in that manner."
is very different from this
S Iswaran has urged Singaporeans to learn to integrate and be part of a larger society.
Of course, it also depends on how this "larger Singaporean society" is defined.
Not even from CNA, from other news source, the whole chunk of text is the same, the only difference is the word "New citizen" or "Singaporeans".
I'm wondering if this is a press release from PMO? Recently this Iswaran name keep coming out like nobody business...
Times are bad.
It sound like the original Singaporeans are newcomer or strangers here....to integrate into this fake larger society
Life is tough.
We need to integrate so that there will be less problems for the gov to solve.
