Be part of Spore's community life, PM Lee tells new citizens

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged new citizens to join in the country's community life, as the best way to integrate into Singapore society.
He also urged Singaporeans to reach out to new citizens on a personal level, both at home and at work.
He said Singapore is proud to consider itself an open, multi-ethnic society.
Mr Lee was speaking at a ceremony that welcomed 200 new citizens as they received their identification certificates in Ang Mo Kio on Saturday morning.
Another 150 new citizens in the constituency will also receive their certificates in the afternoon.
The legal status of citizenship is just one aspect of citizenship, Mr Lee said.
"Much more important are the intangible factors that make citizenship meaningful - shared values, loyalty, and an emotional attachment to the people and places in the country," he said.

more specific plans on how these could be delivered to local sgs first and foremost...you just cannot integrate without resolving the ground discontents first i.e. the problem that we felt short changed being true bred singaporeans, short changed after serving the national service and only now they started to instill national fervour of giving back to the past veterans, felt short changed as gender policies are only in favour of the female population....and more...
packages here and there are seemingly like bits of carrots to quel the big fiery bellies...
the changes now are still tips of the icebergs....they need to do more...else the move to integrate FT with us is just gonna dispel more...

Singaporean only do what is permissible. All that is not stated, not allowed. Famous example: There is a U-turn sign means U-turn permissable. No sign seen, no U-turn allowed.
Foreigners will do anything that is not prohibited. There is no sign at all, so why cannot U-turn?
If their numbers are small, they will integrate, it their numbers are large, they will disrupt the local culture. All hell will break lose.

I think some doesn't appreciate what the foreigners do for all those in labor industry...But without them then invite who? Zombies or aliens? Singaporeans rather work in the office then working out to have a sun tan...But the govt should now stop...Enough liao..Want invite invite more that does labor work..not PRC coming here to rant or rage kpkb here
