SINGAPORE: A Gurkha police officer died after he was hit by a car along Upper Serangoon Road, opposite Block 103, Potong Pasir Avenue 1.
Police said the accident happened at about 7pm on Saturday.
The officer, who was off duty, was seen in sports attire.
Police received a call from the public at 7.14pm about the accident.
The officer was pronounced dead by paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
A male driver has been arrested for a rash act causing death.
His licence has been suspended.
Commander of the Gurkha contingent, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ross Forman, said he's saddened by the sudden loss of such a young officer and will do everything possible to help the family get through this difficult time.
