SINGAPORE:
A Singaporean tourist was injured in an accident during a snowstorm
in the Japanese island of Hokkaido.
Several
other tourists were treated for minor injuries.
They
were part of a tour group of 22 travelling in Furano, which is
located in central Hokkaido.
Channel
NewsAsia understands from the tour agency, Five Stars Tours, that the
accident happened at about 2pm on April 4.
A
snowstorm caused the coach to flip to one side.
A
rescue team arrived at the scene within 20 minutes.
The
tourists were sent to the hospital for check-up and two of them were
warded.
One
of them was discharged on Thursday, while the other is expected to be
discharged on April 6.
The
group continued with the tour.
Singapore's
Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that at least one Singaporean
was injured in the accident.
It
said its embassy in Tokyo had contacted the injured Singaporean and
will continue to provide assistance.
