Mandatory weekly rest days for foreign maids

  SINGAPORE: It will soon be mandatory for employers to give foreign domestic workers (FDWs) a weekly rest day or compensation in lieu.

  To give employers time to adjust, the new law will kick in for FDW work permits issued or renewed from 1 January 2013.

  Singapore is one of a handful of countries including Saudi Arabia, Thailand and South Korea which have not legislated rest days for foreign domestic workers.

  finally your chewren can have one day free of their culture. trust me you leave your shild in their care to grow up tok with them too long - your child will be like than one way or another when he she grow up - gahmen just cannotn understand this ppoint. the first few years of a child's growing up is very important - gahmen just never seem to get it - by encougraing the 'talent' maid culture here in sg
