While money tops the list of reasons why Singaporeans are not having more babies, another factor - being not mentally prepared - is proving a growing barrier.
About two in five people polled last year said they were emotionally ill-equipped to have children, compared with just three in 20 in 2010.
This made it the second-most cited reason by the more than 600 people surveyed by voluntary welfare organisation I Love Children (ILC) at the end of last year. The other reasons cited were time, career being a priority, and the lack of quality or affordable childcare support.
The aim of the ILC Parenthood Survey was to understand the parenthood concerns and perceptions of young couples.

according to Grace Fu, we need to have at at least more then SGD$10k per month so that "our family standard of living wont be compromise"...
Hard truth, and out from the lady's mouth...
No matter how bitter u are when u get a pay-cut, saying useless and nonsensical things when u are emotional will simply bite back when time passes...
Hard truth too
True, I am not mentally ready.
The sight of the many baby strollers in shopping centres, and public transport sickens me.
If you can't afford a car, please don't have a kid.
i think most on the planet are not ready for babies...

when u have a long day of work , or maybe just trying to have a holiday after a weeks of hard work, babies cry in the middle of night... woohooo~ jombies in the day u might actually turn into the hulk after sometime... either face green from lack of sleep or from rage
Next is baby stroller... for those guys who say they can live without strollers by carrying the baby... dey~ carrying it for long time is not funny... these guys usually say that during their NS blah blah blah, they carry their bags, guns blah blah blah...
BUT DEY~~~ This is ur child, not some backpack where u can put down on the floor when u are tired... besides, the younger guys nowadays need their maid to carry their bags... how can they tahan baby?

With current COE prices, you are talking about a lot of people
Ironically, it's these people who have children and not people who earn above 10k and have a car
money is the biggest problem, having a kid is from day one money to 21 years old all the way. but with country like singapore everyone want the kid to be high flyers it is not possible to have one. also young people mind is too weak to have children.

change the money to ruppiah - billion air sia
Having babies is a very big responsibility.
1) Imagine having to wake up 2 or 3 times in the night when baby cry.
2) Cannot go out with friends or shopping. Have to accompany baby at all times
3) Change dipers. Very messy
4) Cannot work overtime and perform because at office worry about baby all the time
5) Costly to maintain baby.
this is made worse for the men by over emphasizing on women charterand an unbalanced gender policy....marriage has never become the worst liability in this part of our world..
Long live singlehoods and more foreigns!
