Casino entry levy so unfair: Why only locals & PRs pay?

STOMPer DemandBetter finds it unfair that the casino levy is borne solely by Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs), after learning that both casinos in Singapore had been fined for failing to enforce the levy on patrons.
According to an article in the Straits Times today, both Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa have been dealt penalties by the Casino Regulatory Authority amounting to $385,000. The fine was allowing for a total of 44 people to enter or remain on their premises beyond the 24 hour period.
The STOMPer shared:
"Just read an article about the fine that MBS received.
"Why the difference between Singapore Citizens or PRs regarding the levy and any of the foreign workers in Singapore?
"Foreign workers here have an equal likelihood of causing trouble, generating crime, etc. as the locals and PRs do.
"The levy should be placed on anyone without a 'Visitor Pass', which in itself is temporary. Singapore can also deport these people in the event that they get into trouble with the law.
"I don't like the double standard." -
Levy are there to discourage native Singapore citizen from entering the casino. We wanna protect our own people.

instead of asking why is there a entry levy for citizens and pr...ask why do you want to enter the casino. Though Singapore has a limited no. of entertainment options, there are entertainment options that are better than the casino.

Its only unfair until Stomper has to experience going to a casino filled with rowdy 18 year olds.

The levy is there so that the STOMPer can b*tch about it in STOMP instead of b*tching that he lost $10,000 in one single night.

Can you imagine the gambler going to the casino and after paying the $100 fee realise that she had no money left to gamble.
