SINGAPORE: A former tactical ranger at the National Parks Board faces a maximum fine of S$100,000, or a jail term of up to five years, or both, for allegedly getting S$20 as a bribe.
Fifty-nine-year-old Lee Hak Peng was charged in court Thursday under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He is accused of obtaining a bribe of S$20 from Nurhidayu Mansor on March 12, 2010 at the East Coast Park.
In exchange for the money, Lee was asked not to issue Nurhidayu a summon for littering.
Lee has asked for a trial and his passport will be impounded by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau.
He will face the court next week.

Giving a $20 bribe to avoid littering summons ==> dumb.
Accepting the $20 bribe ==> extremely dumb.
Seriously, why can't that woman just do CWO and that ranger issue the summons? Is $20 worth the risk of getting charged with corruption?
Only two parties were involved, bribe was given and accepted.
How the hell did this case leak?
Such a cool working title - Tactical Ranger.
For a moment, I thought special forces.
the woman also ought to be charged too

I thought was from Army ranger
wtf
becoz of $20 , he accept
Haiz...
This case will be the reference point for future case of MIW to MIB.
I think he should be given a warning and let off as he is a talent and treasure in keeping the monkey and bird in control.
It is a "honest mistake".
If talent can do it, more so for commoners.
i thot was power ranger
Good case for increasing the pay of the rangers.
At first, I thought this article was about US Army Ranger

Many possible ways.
Maybe someone else saw the money changing hands and reported to the management.
Maybe the ranger blabbed about it to his colleague while he was p*ssed drunk during a togok session.
Maybe the woman stupidly boasted about it on her FB wall.
Whatever the case, this is one of the most idiotic cases of corruption I've ever seen.

Lee should behave like a fatherly figure advising her appropriately. why create a big hoohaa...small issue becomes so big issue, probably because spore is small that broadcasting biggg.
Tactical Ranger dun issue summon, they summon artillary strikes and fire support
but from Npark??? why sounds like some gung-ho commando unit???
maybe the govt should consider paying all rangers $2k a month to prevent corruption.
$2k a month ! You must be joking.
Should be at least $2k per day, to prevent corruption.

2k a day still cannot reach 1 million a year.
Unless they get 20 month bonus.
