SINGAPORE: Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries collected a total of S$159 million for the Financial Year 2010.
In the 2009 Financial Year, the amount was S$149 million.
And for the period up to end-October of 2011, the amount stood at S$97 million.
Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew gave this update in response to questions from Non-constituency MP Mrs Lina Chiam.
He stressed that the gantries are tools to manage congestion and are not meant to generate revenue.
The
gantry at Nicoll Highway collected the highest amount. It collected
S$32,000 based on the week-day average in a typical month..
The gantry at Upper Boon Keng Road collected the lowest amount at S$130.
Non-Constituency
MP Yee Jenn Jong asked Mr Lui will there be any plans to scrap gantries
that collect significantly lower amounts than others.
In his
reply, Mr Lui said: "The reason why we need some of these cordons, for
example like Upper Boon Keng, is that it is part of the outer cordon
through which vehicles have to pass in order to get to the city. We need
to also control the movement of vehicles in this direction and we have
to make sure that we basically have a cordon that is sufficiently
effective."

okay, lets donate the money to the poor people
Let's donate the money to the talent of Singapore.
If you dun donate to them, they will resign and Singapore will be in crisis. (Actually it is already in crisis because of them)
If you dun do it, more talent will not be attracted and Singapore will also be in crisis.
The ERP is a white elephant system which serve no purpose in reducing jam but to generate lots of profits as where else can you drive unless you fly a helicopter.

If people had helicopters, you can be sure erp will be extended to the airspace.
The ERP have already extended to be using the GPS system so they will save money on building gantry.
You will be charged on where you go.
The aim is still about reducing traffic congestion, which is ineffective since day one.
No one ever requested for the gantry to be switched off if there is long jam.
Just like some talent who are being paid for not doing any work.

Next time, they will plant a microchip on your forehead.

So what is Minister Lui going to do with the money collected from the gantries? I believe the taxpayers want an answer as well as transpancy.
what is not about generating revenue as far as they are concerned?
its always about money.
if they are serious about traffic control they can always limit the number of cars running on the roads.
More tai-chi ing.
Never able to give a straight answer.
Like asked if Poly students will be given concession he says 'it will cost operators 28m'.
Don't tell me if it will cost them, or how much it will cost them.
Just answer Yes or No. Simple.

The root of the problem is the ever increasing population.
Reduce it and housing, medical, public transport problems will correct itself.
The governement from last year till now. Sorry to say that. They did not do anything leh.
1) They meant reduce foreigners and PR. BUt i see still the same so many.
2) Reduce our essential items and help us during times. :( I see them increase the electricity and water bill leh right after election.
3)Public transport screw up.
4) Youngster still hack people. Loanshark still around pouring and forcing ppl to sucide.
