Paying high to attract the right people.
Can he ask his gang whether they are the "right" people before he made that statement ?
Is he repeating the SOP or template from the old man ?
What "right" things did he do during his terms to be in his position now ?
Did his right people cause the overcrowding, FT, transport and flood issue in Singapore ?

ISA/ ISD can arrest anyone and everyone in Singapore who is suspected to be of danger to the society and the governement without evidence and trial, in other words, ISA/ ISD can pretty much slience anyone who is against PAP, including opposition parties. They write up various ''unjust'' laws so that Singaporeans will never be able to change the government democratically again. This is the reality today.

My point to Mr T is that if you and your croonies want to earn that pay, you have to provide higher level of performance and be prepared to cut your pay and to be replaced if you failed.
But, the present system is paid due to the sacrifice they suffered through serving their terms regardless of whether they do their job.
As for perks, most of them are sitting as directorship for lots of companies so they are also enjoy PERKS on top of their salaries and bonus.
I agreed that the starting point of the old man is to attract talent to serve the nation.
But, through the track record of last twelve years, we have a prata man who never audit the reserves and a group of croonies who have created more social problems instead of solution.
So, what is Mr T & L arguing about paying $ for talent ? (Please show us your talent if there is any)
Isn't the track record of the past 12 years not proof enough or else why is Mr L replacing Mr Raymond, Mr WOng and Mr Mah since they are talent ?

Aiya, this is a 2007 article lah... old already... anyway, Hong Kong is more densely populated... Hong Kong's Central District is PACKED to the brim with people, but they have more land, albeit 1/3 of it is not suitable for living conditions (mountains). Singapore is low lying, perfect for habitation. Anyway, high population density isn't exactly a good thing you know.... unless you like getting brushed or bumped in public on a daily basis.... and this is especially bad if you're female.
