I have great faith in the leaders here on providing their services for the nation and never for personal greed.
That is why I am humbly proposing the following donation scheme for the Billingualism Fund:
President & Ex-President - $ 12 m each ($ 24m)
ESM, Ex-MM & PM - $ 10 m each ($30 m)
Deputy PM - $ 8 m each ($16 m)
Ministers & Ex-Ministers that have served for and over two terms - $ 30 m divided among them
As all of them are still receiving pensions, they should be very glad to play a vital role in the nation building.
Hope this act of generous donation will stop all the rubbish and nonsense that the leaders are over-paid.

But if they could come up with this amount of money, it will mean they are overpaid.
So how?
If they are willing to donate the money to future generation, it show that they are willing to part with the money paid to them through the blood and sweat of all the tax players and they are here to serve the nation selflessly.
They did not ask for the huge salary in the first place as it was forced upon them.
Mr Lee have set a good example of donating 10 million dollars.
So, this should be a good indication to the world that we have a group of caring and generous world class leaders who are clean and not stingy for cause of the nation.
Spend money on productive economic projects or social services is better than this bilingual crap in my view.
This is a very poor use of funds by Lee Kuan Yew in my opinion.
times are getting bad and may become worse in 2012....its not the time to mind your own language...
use the 100 mio as retrenchment packages...
Forecasts are that Singapore economic growth will slow down in 2012, I think this is the wrong time to set up S$100m bilingualism fund. The money should be used for more productive economic activities or plans to help the needy.
I hope Lee Kuan Yew can reconsider and withdraw his plans for the S$100m fund.
Now is not the time.
Singapore braces for sharply slower growth in 2012

this old useless fark.......................early die, early good lah.................
Times are getting bad for the commoners and non-elites.
Times are always getting good for elites and man living in ivory tower as promised by Mr Peanut.
So, the donation for the fund must go on as sg have the largest concentration of stingy millionaires in the world.
It have become more corrupted also according to the press.
we once had a score of 9.4
now, drop liao.

The faster he dies the more money we won't waste on scum like him.
what was done in the past, like letting us learn english has seperated us from our neighbours and make us what we are today. I think we need to seperate personal from national issues.
I think what is suggested here is to propel our younger generations into the next decade and I do think that while we have the reserves, we should equip our younger generations with the language skills that may help to keep this island/people head above shoulders.
No doubt, next year is a year of uncertainly, however, I do believe all of us should look beyond that. Do it means that 2012 is a year of uncertainity and we all stop studying, working or investing in our skills? On the contrantry, we should do even more so that we are different so that in the long run, we can provide for ourselves cause we alone have to take care of ourselves.
for one, I am happy that English is our first language, and also, its role in maintaining a racial balance for our people.
We have already contributed a lot to the Budget on education.
This fund is actually additional and over and above.
And we have no control and transparency on how and who the fund will be used.
So, just follow my humble proposal and it will be a win win situation for all.
We have to save our funds for the inflation during the recession as there is no free lunch. (Note: Property tax is increasing next year, dunno what else they will increase)
