PAP must expect tougher fights in future elections: PM Lee

SINGAPORE: The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) can expect future general elections to be tougher contests and should not expect any more clean sweeps and safe wards.
This was the message from PAP Secretary-General and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the party's convention on Sunday.
Mr Lee said in every constituency, the "PAP must fight, and fight to win".
He urged party activists to prepare early.
He reminded them that preparations must not just start when the elections are approaching, but continue throughout the five-year term.
He stressed that whatever the overall strategy and national issues, ground work in each constituency still makes a great difference.
This applies to constituencies that the PAP lost, such as Hougang and Aljunied GRC, as well as wards that it won comfortably or narrowly.
Mr Lee said one conclusion from the party's review of the general election is the need to identify and deploy potential candidates earlier.
He said the PAP must "avoid parachuting people in at the last minute" and pointed out that it's already looking for potential candidates for the next round.

one sets the rules of the game, u must know how to go around and beat the system...they calculate the worst scenarios, u must do the same and see how they redivide their losses...they will always think at least 10 steps ahead....
intelligent oppositions must start recruiting really potential ones now and do scenarios planning and calculate the losses...
but i m sure nicole seah would be back again and stronger....matured and with a greater voice perhaps...a new female candidate now may be on the way up the rank...and she will be trained to tackle nicole....

the people's hearts are usually not dictated but swayed...
success could lift one up too far away from the ground...and one would only see statistical figures and results, but lack psychological insights ...while oppositions are growing well psychologically from ground up....there's the connection.....
there is a great need to review the social psychological framework before enacting policies....to understand mass psychology does not begin with what "the party" wants, what is "good for the country", ironically,.....but to know how "the people are affected"...

PAP will lose more than 1 GRC in next GE. expect to lose at least 2 SMCs and 2 GRCs.

dun underestimate the general public angry of alot of issues. skyhigh HDB prices, food prices, petro prices, and the influx of aliens to compete with sg for jobs.
