SINGAPORE: Some 140 workers on Jurong Island were hit by a suspected case of food poisoning following dinner served to about 2,000 of them last Friday evening.
Singapore's Ministry of Health and National Environment Agency were informed of the incident on Saturday.
The workers were
involved in a project for oil giant ExxonMobil and live in a dormitory
along Banyan Road on the island, home to several petrochemical firms.
Authorities said they developed symptoms of diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
All have since recovered.
A cross-agency inspection found two canteens there clean with no major hygiene lapses.
Drinking water was also found to be safe.
ExxonMobil said it is working with authorities and the company in charge of dormitory operations on the matter.
Investigations are ongoing.
