SINGAPORE: Last year, 68,143 Permanent Residence (PR) applications were rejected, up from 58,923 in 2009.
In 2008, 22,472 PR applications were rejected.
The figures were
contained in a written reply by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs
Minister Teo Chee Hean to MP for Aljunied GRC Pritam Singh who had asked
how many applications for PR have been rejected and the specific
criteria for approval of such applications.
Mr Teo said each PR
application is evaluated holistically on a set of criteria - which
includes factors such as an individual's economic contributions,
qualifications, age and family profile - to assess applicants' ability
to contribute and integrate well into society.
He added that it
was not appropriate to reveal specific criteria as this could encourage
individuals to attempt to circumvent or abuse the system.
In
another question, Mr Singh asked how many criminals have been hanged in
Singapore and the breakdown in terms of foreigners, PRs and Singaporeans
from 2004 to 2010.
Mr Teo said there were 26 Singaporeans and 12 foreigners who were executed. No PRs were executed during that period.

For heaven sake, these people already stay in Singapore and work in Singapore. So what is the difference, in making them PR or not?
Just convert all of them into Singaporeans and stop pretending that they dont exist.

They will vote PAP.
68,143 rejected but 100,000 accepted right?

yes u r right, they always give u half a story n not how many applied n rejected
y no say how many approved?
The question that should be asked is
How many applications were received?
How many approved/rejected ?
They tell you how many rejected only. That is telling you only part of the picture, not the whole picture.
This is the way, man, on how to give an answer that looks good. I must learn from this.

About 20,000 PRs are accepted each year!
But... strangely in Singapore, there are 5.1 million people. 3.2 millions are Singaporeans. 1.9 millions are foreigners (37%). Out of 10 persons on the MRT train, 4 are foreigners.
So the governement is actually playing with numbers, saying that we only accept a small amount of foreigners to be Singaporeans but in fact there are 100 times more people on the streets. The government just want to tap the FTs but does not want to give them citizenships, so that they will not be responsible for their well-being. Schemimg.
Furthermore, out of the 3.2 million Citizens, 300,000 are New Citizens.
So 4.5 out of 10 on the MRT are foreigners.

or did they gave citizenship without the need of being a PR?
All suddenly become math experts.
we are all experts, because they never give us the figure how many accepted. with no anwers, we can come up with our own answers?

Hmm.
If PR numbers are dropping, Singaporeans are not procreating enough, then how come population keeps increasing?
It should then logically be deduced that the foreign worker population must be increasing quite significantly for the overall population to increase.
If that is so, then how come companies are complaining there are not enough foreign workers for them to hire?

Singapore is not accepting more PR now, since our goverment become aware that SG is overpopulated. Trying to control the poplulation growth in this tiny island, before we all commit suicide at bedok reservoir.
