This case is no example of your 'adage' though, simply because it is less an 'accidental mistake' than it is a cold calculated effort to satisfy his desires at the expense of others.
I have no problem seeing this, save for the fact that its presence here suggests that we should look upon this matter lightly and 'forgive' him somehow.
