IN the seven months since the application process was made easier for foreigners to exclude themselves from the casinos, the number of foreigner self-exclusion orders have shot up dramatically.
As of last month, 12,660 foreigners have barred themselves from the casinos compared with about 50 last November.
They make up about 70 per cent of all self-exclusion orders currently enforced by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), the rest, or 5,389 self-exclusion orders, are for Singaporeans and permanent residents.
The jump in foreigner exclusion orders came after NCPG wrote to employers of foreign workers earlier this year to inform them about the order and how to applications can be done online.
Previously, foreigners could only file manual applications at the NCPG office in Thomson Road.
There are 613 Family Exclusion Orders. Third-Party Exclusions as at end of June 2011 is 28,516. Third-Party Exclusions cover undischarged bankrupts and recipients of public assistance.
