Racist remarks? An apology, remorse (real or feigned) is sufficient to be let off. Only those who are unrepentent of offensive racist remarks are dealt with by the courts.

Because of his expulsion, he has lost more than two years of his life and at least $10k of his money. If you consider that he also lost all his course fees for at least the past two years, that means he lost something like $30k.
Frankly speaking, that sounds like punishment enough for me. Would you prefer that he just spends a few months in jail but gets to remain in his institute?
I'm not saying what he did was right. All I'm saying is, his current punishment is already severe enough, and the best thing we can do now is to point and laugh at him.
