1 DD cost S$520 000. 1 SD cost S$300 000 to S$350 000.
price is roughly the same elsewhere, since most buy from the same brands (mercedes/man/volvo/scania)... there are cheaper buses available.. those from China.... but then, dun think ppl here like it......... maybe SBST/SMRT should buy China buses instead to cut cost....

Just wondering............
SBST buses need to pay ARF, COE and diesel tax?
If they do pay ARF and COE, the cost of these buses are definitely inflated.
What is good for the gander might not be good for the goose.
eh i took china made buses before leh, dunno what brand. but the interior finishing quite koyak.
anyways, anyone know the revenue source of the bus companies and the components of it?

since oredi so many china men and women driving, might as well let them use their 家乡 products
so tt they will not brake anyhow and overshoot bus-stops

NO ARF/COE/diesel taxes for public buses..... if have, the fares increase will be even higher...

how you know china guys when driving china buses wont anyhow brake and overshoot bus stops?
Already had China buses on public service what...........but rejected.
But the ones SBST purchased were ok priced.....not SMRT ones!

That is like saying all SMRT, Comfort, Union and Premier taxis (public transport) don't need to pay ARF, COE and diesel tax.
SBST used to charter out their buses for private trips, how do you distinguish SBST buses from private and public journeys.
Maybe SBST buses don't pay ERP also.
Do you have any proof that SBST buses don't need to pay ARF, COE and diesel tax?
Or
Are you just guessing?

Pls read properly. I MENTION PUBLIC BUSES .... i did not say Comfort/Union/Premier taxis dont need pay ARF/COE/Diesel Tax. I did not MENTION ALL PUBLIC TRANSPORT. Pls do not put words in my mouth....
SBST buses paid ERP.... go and search yourself for the ARF/COE part... They actually been paying 5% ARF till this march (go read up the budget statement)....

What the public transport companies need is real competition from private operators to wake up their idea.
But I doubt this will happen because the public transport companies will be protected by the people at the top.
I agree.
Singapore is just a monopoly for the Lees and we're just chess pieces for them to make more money.
Once our life is used up, they just chuck us aside for cheaper FTs.

If that is the case, then we might have to squeeze more passengers into buses or increase bus fares significantly.
Since taking public transport is a basic necessity:
Transport fares decrease - trains/buses will still be packed.
Transport fares stay the same - trains/buses will still be packed.
Transport fares increase by 1% - trains/buses will still be packed.
Transport fares increase by 10% - trains/buses will still be packed.
The return on assets already 8.4% for SBST, what more they want for a stable risk free industry.
SBST side I got few complaints. Its a fact that the fleet was modernised....and there are visible improvements here and there.
Its SMRT you should scrutinise.

It's usually the case, after GE the price of basic and essential services will increase.
Now not nationalised also fares are increasing leh.
So how?
